Belgian-style ale brewed with orange peel and spices

A delicious new take on an old favorite, 2 Turtle Doves is a dark Belgian ale with enough spices to get you through the holiday season. Ginger, cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg warm the palate, and bitter orange peel adds the perfect balance for a complex, savory ale. Share it over a meal or use it for a toast; this seasonal ale is a celebration in itself.

I have a 12.7 oz bottle on this sampling. Lightly cooled, this one is going inside of my favored Trappistes Rochefort glass. Fragrant nose, there is dried fruit, grain, malt and candi sugar. The taste, well it is pretty fine, tough competition in the universe of quadrupels. It follows the classic taste of the style. Dates, bread, malt, a hint of black raisins, caramel, citrus peel, perhaps some clove and a bare bit of red cherries. Interesting beer. Nice.

Monthly Beer Share, Chez Sophie in Shrewsbury; 27th February 2023, five guys who love beer. Bomber (1 US Pint and 9.4 fl oz bottle), 2021 Version brought back from California by me. Loved it, every thing I like about Belgian dark style brews. Off-white head on a slightly hazed mahogany coloured body. Spiced nose and taste with a boozy sweetness that gave way to some orange like flavours in the finish.

75cl bottle @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie, Feb 23. Thanks Jeremy for bringing this back from your latest California trip. Pours hazed dark brown, large off-white head. Plenty of spice going down here with ginger and brown sugar coming through nicely.. supremely well-balanced with a lovely malty base and a dark Belgian sweetness that suggests dark candy rock sugar. Christmassy feel. Very good.
