12 oz bottle from a 12 Beers of Winter pack (Saranac labelled beers, four types, three each). This bottle was BB 31st Mar 2018. It was poured into a lovely 'Kasteel' stemmed glass on 12th Dec 2017 while I was on holiday at my daughters place in California. Pack of beer bought at a Bev-Mo store. Very dark body, ruby hue to the edges when held up to a bright light, light tanned foaming head. Chocolate nose with a roasted/toasted light burnt ester or two. Taste again leads with a chocolate feel, less burnt notes in the flavour compared to the aroma. Some ground coffee in the mix alongside some unsweetened vanilla traces. Easy drinking Porter with enough going on to keep me interested until the end. Nothing exciting or wonderful about it, just a decent Porter with a sensible ABV.

Dark brown color with a medium frothy beige head that diminishes quickly to a film. Short strings of lacing. Aroma of roast malt, chocolate and slight hops. Light body with flavors of chocolate malt, mild coffee and a touch of hops. The finish is sweet with a malty aftertaste. Decent overall.

Bottle: Pours almost black, with a tall, dark oatmeal head. Light bitter chocolate, coffee scent. Taste is the same....watery, roast malt.....thin. Too bad, nice balance, but weak. Needs some backbone.
