Liquorice imperial Stout... Brewed as our 9 + 1 beer for De Molen's Borefts 2018 under strict recipe guidelines with the exception of one ingredient. Our chosen ingredient is liquorice. A sleek, black dangerous animal with decadent layers of roasted malt and deep dark reverberations of oily liquorice.

Draught @ 10th. BBF 2018 [ 10th Borefts Beer Festival 2018 ] @ Brouwerij de Molen, Bodegraven, Netherlands. [ As Wylam Feasting With Panthers ].Clear dark black brown colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, dark malt, roasted, moderate hoppy, fruity hops, mint, heavy licorice - soft licorice. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, salty licorice, dark malt, sweet malt, soft licorice, mint notes. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20180921] 8-3-8-3-16

30 November 2018. Billie's Craft Beer Fest. Cheers to Anke, tderoeck & 77ships! Cloudy black with a lasting, thin, dark beige head. Strong aroma of licorice, spicy & salty, salted peanut, fondant, dough, plum, blackcurrant, coffee roast & liqueur. Taste is medium to heavy malty sweet, almost candyish, with lots of sweet & a tad salty licorice, toned down by a nutty accent and a medium spicy bitterness, spicy licorice this time but a slight roastedness as well; faint dark fruits in the back. Dryish, herbal hoppy finish, lingering licorice, some coffee & chocolate, warming herbal liqueur (almost absinth-like) alcohol. Full body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Well, it delivers what it promises but you have to like it.

Aroma is slightly rich, sweet spicy licorice, dark malts, toast, dark sugar, bark, alcohol, coffee, hay, minerals, roasted grain. Taste is slightly dry sour-ish mineraly, licorice powder, toast, grass, roasted grain, minerals, alcohol, bark, sour-ish roasted grain, sour coffee, hay, soil. Medium bitterness, slightly watery and sweet sour-ish roasted mouthfeel. Nice enough.

200ml draught ar Mikkeller & Friends. Shared with Frau Eva. Deep black body, bubbly ring to the rim of the surface, fragile lacing. Lightly smoked malty aromas with liquorice. Mixed taste of liquorice, brown malts, and smoke. Smooth, mid-sweet liquorice finish. Well bodied. Good drinking, indeed. (Copenhagen 24.11.2018).

Borefts X. Day 1. Keg. Opaque dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Smooth palate, slightly viscous, modest fine carbonation. Smooth dark malts, good dark chocolate. Well integrated tangy fruits. Mild esters. Smooth finish. Licorice lost on me. Nice enough.
