This Bourbon Barrel-Aged Stout collaboration with Mortalis Brewing showcases the game-changing technique of roasting certain finishing adjuncts onsite. We house-roasted almonds, pistachios, English walnuts, and coconut and immediately applied them to this decadent stout base, capturing all of the rich, delicious nut + coconut oils into the finished liquid.

Bottle to tulip. 2023 purchased in November during a Disney trip and then cellared. Pours black with a massive, deep brown head that fades down to a ring. Aroma is boozy barrel and chocolate. Vanilla in the background. Flavor is booze, cocoa, and chocolate. Slightly dusted chocolate on the flavor.

Bottle at home. Pours black, nose is chocolate, coconut, vanilla fudge, almond, meaty, taste is similar, definite pistachio and walnut, sweet.

On tap at The Wandering Tortoise, pours jet black with a medium tan head. Aroma is full of dark sugars, mixed toasted nuts (especally almonds), coconut, some dark fruitiness, and a touch of bourbon. Flavour is even nuttier, with intensely rich roasted almonds, walnuts and pistachios (yes, I get them all!), accentuated by coconut, and finished beautifully with some gentle bourbon. Surprisingly not that sweet -- there's certainly lots of sugars in here, but there's enough roast and dry nuttiness to balance. Beauty.

Dark brown, medium brown head. Thick, rich, a little bit boozy, maybe almonds but other than being fatty I'�m not sold on the nut character. But it'�s nice, solid coconut accent.
