Can from Drankenhandel Leiden. Aroma is roasty chocolate and piney/fruity hops with citrus and grapefruit. Potently bitter roasty and hoppy flavour, tropical fruits, nice dark malt. Body is above medium. Truly a lovely beer.

Clear dark brown to black beer, big fizzy aery beige head, unstable, falls down quickly, bit adhesive. Aroma: very roasted, hoppy, resinous and piny as well, some floral notes, very lovely. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: very bitter, resinous hops, citrus, some caramel, gentle roast. Aftertaste: lovely bitterness, very roasted, hint of citrus, resinous, piny, lovely black ipa! Why is this style not more popular??

Can 440ml (BB 10/2019)
Dark brown colour, small beige head. Lots of licorice, fruityness in the nose. Medium-bodied. Licorice toastyness, pine, some fruityness in the flavour. Decent bitterness in the aftertaste. Close to original Cascadian Dark Ales. Good.

Can at home, picked up in Sterk, Amsterdam, 17th August 19. Pours black. Aroma is cocoa, floral, chocolate, citrus. Taste is hoppy, cocoa, sweet, then a floral, bitter cocoa, lingering finish. It’s good, for sure more in the hoppy stout end of the spectrum
