Can at ash's. Pours deep ruby brown, nose is tonka, caramel, chocolate, cream, taste is chocolate, dark fruit, tonka, quite bitter, thin.

Can from the Black Toad. Appearance - mat brown to black. Thin beige head. Nose - tonka, coconut, cookies and fudge. Taste - very tonka, burnt cookies. Some praline. Palate - medium bodied, roasty dry and finish. Overall - quite nice.

440ml can from the Coracle, Ironbridge. Poured almost black in colour with a short-lived frothy, off-white head. The aroma is roasty malt, tonka beans. The flavour is moderate liquorice bitter, light sweet, with a smooth, rich, roasty, chocolate, herbal, tonka, light liquorice bitter palate. Over medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Black beer, thick tan head. Smell has a good whack of tonka, which is an instant thumbs up, plus some malty milk chocolate. Flavour has the same qualities, as you might expect. Nice tonka hit, milk chocolate with toasty, biscuity malt and a little vanilla. Good body, nicely balanced and it really packs a punch for just 5%. Could happily spend an evening on this.

On tap (half a pint) in the Brewery Market, Twickenham on 13th January 2024. Dark body, decent tanned head. Sweet coffee aroma and taste, some biscuity action too, nice!
