When we decided to resurrect the Big DIPA, we knew that we needed to make it bigger and better. We've brought the beer back with the same 10.5.

Bottle at Chriso’ Blue Mountains of Virginia tasting. Copper colour, clear. Thin beige head. Lovely big piney hop aroma. Rather toasty, some good hop. Bit of cheesy big hop. Good though without a wow factor.

ChrisOs ’Blue Ridge Mountains Of Virginia’ tasting! (Early hours of the morning rating). Clear amber beer. Light crisp palate with an alcoholic snap to it. Sweetish malt base on which sweet piney hops come to the fore. Finishes dry and with more sweet hops. Nice! Original rating 3.7

GBBF. Cask. Hazy deep amber beer. Residual off white head. Amazing nose of intense marmalade, orange liquer and tangy fruit. Light palate, semi dry. Taste follows the nose to a degree. Caramel malt base. Trace of red friuts. There is an overall sweetness to the beer despite the hop attack. Finishes semi dry with mild aniseed aftertaste. Very tasty!

Rich and full bodied DIPA. Citrus hops, earthy, with molasses, and sweet toasty malts. Finishes with a nice mellow but lasting bitterness. A real nice DIPA that could prove to be really dangerous since its alcohol is well hidden.

22 ounce bottle from Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a slightly hazy copper color with a medium creamy tan head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of huge grapefruit notes along with other citrus hops and a bit of herbalness. Taste is caramel, toffee, citrus hop notes including again primarily grapefruit along with lemon. Candied citrus notes as well. Medium-full bodied and no hint of alcohol. Lingering bitterness. Just a tad bit cloying.

Bomber. Clear amber body with a small, off-white, rapidly diminishing head. Strong malty aroma of toasted grain, caramel, bread. Underneath that are some hop aromas - citrus, grapefruit, orange. The flavor is moderately to heavily sweet and moderately bitter. It finishes moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Medium to full body, thick soupy texture, moderate carbonation. Overly malty for a double IPA. The beer reminded me of an American Strong Ale and not one especially well made. Unclean and unrefined and sorely lacking any juicy hops. Below par.
