Black beer, thin head. Smells of a little chocolate and a lot of toasty malt. Flavour has the same maltiness, with dark chocolate, a dash of hoppiness and... something else I can't place. Might just be aniseed but I'm not sure, just an extra little something. Nice balance of flavours though. I wouldn't mind if the chocolate had come through a little more strongly but this isn't bad at all.

440ml can bought at the Offie, Leicester, and drunk at home. Dark brown with some translucency and a quickly dissipating khaki head. Lots of chocolate fudge on the nose, with light coffee and liquorice notes and a smidgen of pine. Taste is mostly sweet and chocolatey with crisp bitter hop in the latter half of the sip. Body is surprisingly light, with heavy carbonation. A joy to drink.
