(473ml can from the Mikkeller Webshop) Pours pitch black with a small tan ring. Notes of rich bourbon and maple syrup-inflected dark malts up front with a fair amount of chocolate, vanilla as expected from the barrel, dark fruit accents, quite sweet up front but dries a fair bit through the middle, roasted malt and coffee/cacao bitterness, drying from the wood, lots of persistent barrel and maple flavour though, and a maple vanilla mocha finish. Medium-full syrupy body, soft carbonation. Good maple BA pastry business, not as out-of-balance as I feared either.
