It was 1989 when a brave 13 year old Vietnamese kid named Kha, who didn't know how to swim, joined 17 others on a small wooden boat and fled their home. With hopes of reaching Malaysia, they began a perilous journey across the South China Sea. Countless others before them had perished—victims of pirates, overcrowded boats, and violent storms. They spent 10 days and 9 nights on an unfriendly sea. Against the odds, Kha’s group was rescued by the Italian Navy and taken to Taiwan. From Taiwan, they were flown to Hong Kong, and from Hong Kong they were flown to the Palawan Refugee Camp in the Philippines, where Kha would spend the next three years of his life.

Canned. Very pale yellow orange/pineapple juice pour, white lacing. Acidic, citrus, tropical notes, creamsicle, mild burn

Panda at home, thanks to the Wingman, 20/02/2025.
Murky orange yellow topped with a white cap that thins to a swirl.
Nose is ripe tropicana, light candied fruit, pine resin, guava, pineapple.
Taste comprises bitter orange, pine resin, grapefruit, guava, lychee, trace of hop spice.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light drying close spiked with juicy come resinous hop bitterness.
Solid DIPA.

Panda thanks to Wingman. Hazy yellow gold beer, small bubbly pale cream colour head. Palate is airy, semi dry, good fine minerally carbonation. Thinnish pale malts, sweet enough. There is a slight powdery feel and taste in the mid. This brew could be cleaner for me. Good hops, soft but bright pine. Hops spicy bright citrus intermingles well with the floral stone fruits of Peacharine. Light finish leaves a hop spicy linger. Nice, nearly great.
