Axe raised to the power of X. Where X is dry hopping increased by 200%. 20% oats added to the grist for enhanced mouthfeel and character and IBU's significantly reduced.

440ml can from Chez Sophie. Pours misty gold, medium white head. Aroma is fresh soft citric fruit. Tase is similarly fresh soft fruity, extremely smooth and light on the palette, drying of course. Incredibly well rounded sessionable IPA. Very good.

23/VI/18 - 44cl can from De Hopduvel (Gent), shared @ my godchild's birthday weekend, the Abeels' place - BB: 23/IV/18 (2018-797)

Pretty cloudy blond to beige beer, big creamy off-white head, pretty stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: pretty fruity, bit cheesy, some passion fruits, sweaty feet, orange peel. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: fruity, lots of orange peel, pretty bitter, bit sweet, some alcohol, very fruity. Aftertaste: mango, bitter, fruity, some caramel malts, bit sourish, orange juice, some grapefruit, very bitter finish.

Canned 23 APR 18. Very fruity, including some light tartness. Stone fruits, mostly, bit of citrus. Behind that a solid IPA. All the flavors are there, the balance is ok, maybe just a bit too fruity. Doesn't wow me as some other UK hops did, though.

Can. Very hazy gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Light palate, fairly dry, decent fine minerally carbonation. Light malts, lightly sweet, trace of thin cream. Light savoury orange hops. Mild pjne and mild hop spice. Juicier orange and a trace of ripe mango on the finish. Nice.

Special edition of Buxton's Axe IPA, can from De Hopduvel in Ghent. Thick and frothy, egg-white, stable head over a hazy warm and deep orange-hued golden beer. Luscious, zesty and somewhat dank bouquet of freshly squeezed orange juice, mango flesh, stewing red onions, sweet curry, passionfruit, paprika, dough, touch of sweat, starfruit. Sweetish onset with sourish edge, notes of rich mango, granadilla, peach and lime, very refreshing and moreish, softish carbonation, slightly spritzy; soft, doughy, fluffy mouthfeel. Sweetish bready and bit honeyish malt soil underneath a lusciously tropical, citric, slightly dank retronasal hop wave, reminiscent of lime peel, mango, mandarin and granadilla, depositing a soft, mildly spicy bitterness on the root of the tongue while remaining very juicy and refreshing, with lingering tropical fruit notes. Exemplary modern, juicy, East Coast-ish IPA, representing Buxton's remarkably high quality standard - this to me is still among the very best breweries in Britain.
