Keg @ Victoria Tap, Manchester. Black with a small off-white head. Smooth, nice mouthfeel, crisp with a fine blend of tropical and dark malt notes. Not particularly stout-like other than its appearance, but as it's a fine brew it matters not.

Tap at 73 Enid Street. A jet black coloured pour with a lasting mid tan head. Aroma is mellow earthy roast. Liquorice, charred berries, wood, hint of smoke. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, rounded layered roast, earthy, charred wood, liquorice, some jammy raisin. Pinch of salt. Palate is semi sweet, medium full bodied, mellow carbonation. Rounded. Really well put together beer.

Bottle. Appealing nose, with smoke, rich liquorice, blackcurrant, hint of coffee. Taste leads with a bitter liquorice, leading to a warm chocolate and blackcurrant, light caramel, with roast, and softly fruity finish. Mouthfeel is slick. A typically well balanced beer from Runaway.

Pours black with a big brown head. Slightly smokey aroma of toasted malt. Taste has the same qualities too, with a little dried fruit, dark chocolate and liquorice in there too. Nice toasty finish, slightly lively but it's rich in body all the same. Very decent.
