Tap at Prague Castle Fest. Hazy brown body, beige head. Caramel, cocoa and light metallic notes in the aroma. Creamy, lean, dry taste, cocoa, raisins, grainy notes, some pleasant roastiness. Too astringent maybe, but I didn't mind it, it showed promise!

Tap at Festival minipivovaru na Hrade. Not even properly dark, barely brown colour. Shitloads of caramel maltiness, little else to be found here. Someone needs to introduce the brewer to the novelty of roasted malts. High sweetness, medium bitterness. Overall not a tragedy, but a rather classic old school tmavý full of caramel. Meh.

Bottle shared with JMD on board Fridtjofen at preparation for Yule beer tasting 07.12.17. Almost ebony. Small beige head and lacing. Aroma of brittle, dark caramel and chocolate sauce. Similar taste, with moderate bitterness. Chocolaty sweet, combined with moderate bitterness.. Soft mouthfeel.

(100cl plastic bottle with thanks to Quack-Duck) Slightly hazy, dark brown colour with a short and slightly tanned foamy head. Mildly toasty malty aroma with notes of caramel, chocolate and a delicately nutty touch. Moderately sweet and toasty bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a calm carbonation. Dry toast-malt-character with nutty notes and a touch of chocolate; bitter-sweet caramely finish. Pretty good, not too sweet Dunkel from Bohemia. 09.XI.11

Lahev (gšeft s Quack-Duckem!): Almost clear, ruby-amber coloured, small off-white head, relatively rich nose: dark malt, toasted malt, nuts and freshly ground coffee; more dry than sweet flavour, malt bitterness mainly, soft, light to medium bodied; walnutty traces in the soft and dry bitter-malty finish, balanced by some caramel. Very tasty beer from this Böhmerwaldbrauerei…
