A 500 ml bottle purchased in the wilds of rural Wales. I make a pour into the glass provided in our room to see a golden brown body finished with a head of parchment brown foam. The scent is malt and grain. The taste, surprisingly large and full, is malty, with a hint of caramel, whole grain toast and a bit of hops bitterness. Nice presentation of the style.

Bottle from British Local Craft. Bit of a lively one this !! All over my hands and onto the floor when opening. Soon settled down though, and poured a slightly hazy traditional bitter brown with a decent cream head. Nuts and jam in the aroma. In the mouth it has a creamy biscuity texture with malts to the fore in the flavour, along with caramel. Some old style hop bitterness comes along later with hints of spices. Very much a traditional better – not at all bad.

(Cask at Gallow's Bird Real Ale Festival 2020) The beer poured mahogany coloured and clear. Its head was small, sparse and white. Aroma had earth, toffee and toasted malts. Palate was medium bodied with low carbonation. Flavours were earth, toasted malts, toffee and bitterness. Aftertaste malty, sweet and bitter. A decent malty brew with lightly too much sweetness.
