Cask at the Dove Street Inn Spring Beer Festival, Ipswich. Said it was 4.0% abv on the cask but seemed more like the abv on here. Pours black with a small beige head. Aroma of chocolate, liquorice, roasted malt, dark fruits, light vanilla. Medium sweetness, light roasted bitterness. Medium to full bodied, slick texture, soft to flat carbonation. Good brew.

Cask ale, half pint shared with Finn at Commercial Rooms (JDW). Pitch black body, declining tan-coloured head, spotty lacing. Dark doughy aromas with hints of chocolate. Blended taste of caramel, chocolate and berry fruits. Smoothly roasted, mid-sweet ending. Classic stout version. (Bristol 30.04.2017).

Cask-conditioned at the Pelican, Gloucester 20/12/2016. Dark brown in colour, with a slight, off-white, head. Pleasant beer with dark berry fruits, chocolate, toasty malts and hint of creaminess, ending in a decent, toasty, finish. Enjoyable.

16th October 2015
Bottle on holiday in Lyme Regis. Opaque dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Smooth palate, mild fine carbonation. Mellow dark malts, mildly tangy. Touch of dark chocolate and a trace of malt cream. Very light esters before a semi dry finish. A smooth number.

Forever Bury Beer Festival 2015. Black. Has a well-stated roasted malt aroma, but its taste is even greater.
