Visual pairing – The Sure Thing (1985)
After a few pints of Weihenstephaner, noting the flavour and mouth feel you get with the pilsner wheat malt grist I was inspired to create a hazy IPA with a higher-than-normal wheat malt component.
Looking at the bottle had us trying to remember the 80s movie in which impressive beer collection was shown, and a quick Google pointed us to the 1985 film The Sure Thing – an amazing movie to inspire the brewing.

Can at home, 5th October 24. Pours a light hazy yellow straw colour. Aroma is pineapple, citrus, lemons and limes with pith. Taste is bright, lemon, pith, lime, pith and pineapple. Refreshing and delicious DIPA

440ml can. Murky yellow, white head. Aroma of passionfruit, pineapple, mango, citrus. Taste of tropical and stone fruits, passionfruit, peach, mango, dank weedy notes, zesty and pithy citrus finish. Medium bodied.

Can via the brewery subscription. Aroma has citrus, fried onions, resin. Cloudy creamy pale orange. Foamy white head is short-lived. Resinous bitterness jumps in two-footed. Citrus. Herbs. Onion. Bitterness is the focus. The juicy sweetness is present but peripheral. Medium bodied. Slick. Flat-average carbonation. Long dry astringent finish. Hazy (cloudy) but bitter. Enjoyable.
