Baltic Porter is the lagers world's version of an Imperial Stout. Out take on this classic style was fermented with our house lager yeast before spending nearly three months conditioning in an oak foeder. For the barrel aged version, we took a portion of the original batch and aged it for and additional six months in bourbon and rye barrels. The result is a full-bodied lager with a smooth mouthfeel and aromas of dark chocolate wood roasted coffee and bourbon soaked vanilla. New Old Stock was born from the love of an often overlooked style of beer.

dark brown to black, baeautiful brown head with whiter areas.
aroma is roasted malts, fainter smoked malts, wood, charred wood, hard roasted malts. not sweet at all but still velvety , well blended and non-burnt. super fine aroma. also finer notes similar to espresso coffee, dark chocolate.
flavor is sweet from the bourbon, roasted malts, oak, licorice, faint coffee like note, end is roasted malty and slightly charred woody, far far end is dark caramelly, more wood, hints of bourbon.
pretty solid flavor. A great imp. porter and not at all pastry - old scool, and well done at that.

500 ml bottle from the brewery. Aroma is mild oak, chocolate, mild bourbon. The flavor has a huge bitterness here. I can’t figure out where the hop like character comes from. I guess this is coming from the oak foeder?
A very odd miss from Bissell!

Bottle shared by CLW on 2/9/25, thanks, Chris!
Dark with deep auburn. Clear. Light tan head, frothy.
A bit austere, dry oak, almost minty. Hmm, what is giving that mintiness?? Some light brown sugar starts to break through. Some roast, some peanut....
Chewy, medium body. Some peanut. Moderate roast not a ton of barrel though quite a bit of oak....seems a bit off. Not boozey.

50cl bottle pours an opaque black with some beige head. Nose has malt, licorice, caramel, light wood, dried fruits, figs, raisins. Flavor is more stouty. Malt and cocoa and caramel, plenty of barrel. It’s nice. Full bodied. Tannins but also has some dryness.

Capped 500 from Tavour. Pours dark brn/blk with a very transient tan smear. Aroma is dark malt, bourbon and a rye note. Full bodied. Flavor is chocolate, bourbon, rye and some coffee and vanilla. Not dry. Avoids sticky. There's heat, and perhaps that stands in for hop. The flavor is good.
