This ridiculously tasty Amber Ale is a Northwest classic and our flagship brew. Don’t just take our word for it - Full Sail Amber has brought home 28 gold medals. Not that we’re counting or anything. Malty sweet, medium-bodied with a reddish amber hue and a spicy floral hop finish, this is one great-tasting beer. We’re as proud of it today as we were back in ’89.

Bottle Pours a clear dark copper color. Very small tan head and thin lacing. Plenty of rich malty woody flavors balanced fairly well by moderate citrusy hops. Fairly acidic bitter notes as well. Feel is fairly heavy and rich. Lingering woody aftertaste and some hops bitterness.

Orange amber with a thick light moka head. Sweet caramel in aroma,with yeasty notes. A tad oxidized. Sweet malt with woody nutty notes, but definitely oxidized. Light hops and buttescotch coming in finish. Medium bodied. Bought in Summer 2004, SF.

Bottled. Amber colour. Roasty, lightly soapy hop aroma. Dry, light bodied, light flavoured and somewhat salty. Medium bitterness.

On tap at Koji Osakaya (Lloyd Center), Portland. Sampled 5 August 2004. Relatively clear orange-brown body with a thin off-white head. Grassy, medium hops aroma with notes of caramel. Rich caramel, fruit, toast, and brown sugar dominate the body which finishes with grassy hops fading to bitterness. This is what a good Amber Ale should be.

Bottle. This is a well balanced amber beer - there is actualy a decent hop flavor to it. The malts win out, but at least the hops get your attention. I was really surprised at how decent this was (don't normally like ambers).

On tap. Dark red with a brown head. A little sour in the aroma with some herbal scents. Flavor of fruit; reminded me of an IPA.

Bright amber colour. Slightly metallic, crackerlike malt aroma is fairly generic. Bland flavour - stale brown bread, hints of caramel, a shank in the back, pencil lead. Man, I used to really dig this stuff. This was 8-10 years ago and the beer had hops, damnit. Today, more of what you’d expect from an amber - bland bland bland. Actually has decent yeast complexity and malt character for the style, but this was one of the beers I really got excited about. And now I don’t.
