(473ml can from Mikkeller Webshop) Pours black with a small tan head that fades rapidly to a tiny ring without lace. Aroma of rich dark malts, fairly sweet, licorice, black coffee, molasses, softly nutty, toasty and roasty but not totally burnt, just some softly charred notes and a touch of liqueur. Flavour is semisweet dark caramel and toffee malt, toasted coconut, licorice, black coffee, a little tarry burnt malt, soft nutty character but you wouldn’t necessarily pick out the addition. Finish is fairly dry and moderately bitter, with toasted malt, coffee, heavily toasted coconut, more of a liqueur/nut extract vibe too. Medium bodied, slick, soft carbonation, a touch of heat. Recalls Omnipollo’s nut stouts slightly, but less in your face. Solid imperial stout.

24.05.2017, 1 pint can @ home:
Nice light brown creamy shortlasting head. Aroma is slightly sweet sour-ish roasted, dark malts, dark sugar, butterscotch, toast, minerals, toasted coconut, sour coffee, sour caramel, alcohol. Taste is slightly sweet mineraly, dark malts, dark sugar, roasted grain, minerals, weeds, bark, cocoa, butterscotch, toasted coconut, alcohol, sour coffee, grass. Medium bitterness, slightly dry mineraly mouthfeel. Fair enough, disappointing.

Can. A pitch black beer with a minimal sized beige head. Rather oily pour. Dark sugar, licorice, coffee, some coconut and generic nuts, molassess kicking in as well. It’s full-bodied, warming, oily and smooth, with lots of malt-driven flavors. Dark sugar, molasses, licorice, some coffee and coconut and a wee earthy Brazil nut touch. Macadamia, guess it’s there, but I think of Brazil nuts, not macadamia. Sure a beer to sit down in your favorite chair with. 170516
