Black Tuesday - Brandy Barrel-Aged

This version of Black Tuesday spent 14 months developing in choice brandy barrels and brings all the big characteristics you would expect. A big body, bold mouthfeel, and sticky sweetness lead the way for vinous notes of dark cherry. The distinctive flavor profile of the barrels allows for even more barrel character in the liquid, resulting in a unique spin on Black Tuesday’s classic rich complexities.

Panda thanks to Cloin. Near clear dark brown beer, small bubbly dark tan head. Smooth palate, semi dry, good fine carbonation. Smooth dark malts, touches of dark chocolate and dark malt cream. The dominant flavour here is brandy, it's loud and clear and, for me, of a rather good quality. Smooth, rich, full of superfine ripe fruits with an undertone of unsweet caramel. Mild earthy coffee on the back end, which is semi dry and boozy. Tastes like a quality brandy that has been sat in an Impy Stout barrel, rather than the other way around. A proper grown ups craft beer and, something that would send the pretenders crying for their mummies. Superb.

Bottle at home, picked up from Craft Beer Central.ie, 25/12/2025.
Pitch black topped with a khaki head that thins to the edge.
Nose is rich malts, chocolate shavings, dried red berries, brandy barrel, vinous, booze, cherry pipe tobacco.
Taste comprises dark malts, molasses, dried red berries, vinous, booze o'clock, brandy barrel, heat.
Full bodied and have some fucken more, light prickly carbonation, semi drying close with a big rising boost.
Solid ballsy BA impy, if not the most expressive, but on the money and what I expected.

First bottle tried from The Bruery's barrel-aged collection bought from the brewery. A 12.7 oz bottle, it is now open and I have my Teku glass ready. Totally dark body with a ring of light tan bubbles. An attractive nose, there is baking chocolate, booze, dark fruit and scorched grain. A taste now. I have to say this is extraordinary. A truly fine imperial stout while it also has attributes of a dark Belgian ale, specifically a quadrupel. Black plums, dark chocolate, black sweet cherries, wheat bread, brandy from the barrel apparently, leather, a strong malt backbone and a noticeable alcohol burn as it goes down. A chewy beer, a lot of substance. This is quite a package in one bottle. An ABV this big, it may be the most potent beer I have ever tasted. Easily one of the best imperial stouts for me ever.

Had to fix it so an actual barrel aged beer gets the Barrel Aged badge. Let’s go Phillies!

Bottle at home. Pours black, nose is chocolate, vanilla fudge, brandy, oak, taste is similar, chocolate cake, apple, surprisingly not too boozy.
