(Bottle pour @ Modern Times Lomaland Fermentorium, March 31/17) Pours a pretty murky peach colour with a decent stable white head and lace. Aroma is quite funky, overripe apples and pale pit fruit, especially apricot. Slight sulfur, vanilla, oaky. Flavour is light sweet, light tart. A bit of malt backbone. Powdery yeast. Super-ripe nectarine and orange flesh. Oaky tannins. More powdery yeast in the finish, with light bitterness and bread. Medium-full body. Creamy carb. Very slight alcohol, hides the ABV well. Pretty solid funky barrel-aged Belgian-ish effort, it doesn’t feel like a typical saison but it also doesn’t feel like a high alcohol beast either. A touch too obviously yeasty for my taste however.
