A dark, chocolate malty winter mild ale with smooth hopping, for a slightly sweeter taste.

Cask at PoW, Farnborough. Feint aroma of chocolate maltyness. Dark. Medium off-white head. Light bitter with sweet undertones. Choc & nut. Medium bodied. Slick mouthfeel. A hint of carbonation. Long finish which loses it points as I found it became unpleasantly astringent.

Cask at the Tilly Shilling (JDW), Farnborough. An attractive mahogany colour with a cherry red gleam and a ring of beige head; aroma of well roasted malts; treacly taste with a touch of chocolate malt; and a bitter caramel finish. A pleasant winter mild.

Cask, on gravity, at Tewkesbury Winter Beer Festival, 5/2/2016. Dark brown in colour, with a slight, off-white, head. Easy drinking, with plenty of chocolate character, some roastiness and a gentle finish. Good.

From cask at Standing Order (JDW), Southampton 23 Jan 14. Deep, deep brown. Almost black. A low head with some color. The aroma & flavour is caramel. A bit watery and even more caramel in the finish. OK but a bit boring.
