ABV: 4.4%. Clear medium to dark brown amber colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, dark malt, caramel, laber larver, candy, sweet cherry, cherry. Flavor is moderate sweet with a long duration, sweet cherry, cherry stone, candy, sweet malt, caramel. To me, quit odd ! Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20181019]

Cask @ Nottingham Beer Festival. Nice head with good duration. Color is dark brown. Aroma and taste are caramel, fruits, berries, malt and hops. Fruity finish.

Cask @ Nottingham Beer and Cider Festival. Clear dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt, cheap strawberry ice cream and a little star anise. Flavor is medium sweet and light bitter. Sweet and light bitter finish. 191018

Tried at Nottingham Beer Festival 2016. Deep almost black colour with a tan head. Aroma is big aniseed, maybe too much as it dominates the beer. Taste strong aniseed as well. Medium body.

Handpull cask at the Six Bells, Fulbourn. Black with a slowly dissipating cream-coloured head. The star anise dominates the scent. Sweet taste, again dominated by aniseed, bit thereโs a bitterness at the end of the sip that keeps it from getting too sickly. Palate is pretty thin. Itโs fairly one-dimensional, but itโs a rather nice dimension, and itโs good to see Everards push the boat out the tiniest bit.
