Cask @ Pint Shop, Cambridge accompanying a burger and sourdough bread. Pitch black pour, off-white head. Aroma of dark malt, chocolate malt, liquorice. Decent basic stout overall with dark chocolate malt leading the way and light liquoricey shades. Nice.

Cask at Peterborough Beer Festival 2017. Poured black with a tan cap. Aroma: chocolate malt, lactose, vanilla. Taste: light to moderate sweet & moderate+ bitter, chocolate, coffee, lactose, mocha. Medium body with fine carbonation. Lacking sweetness & too bitter for the style, for me.

Cask at the Southampton Arms, London on 24th April 2022. Deep ruby black with tan foam and spot lacing. Fresh coffee aroma with bitter chocolate. Rich and intense roastiness in-mouth, and a bitter roasty finish with a fiery touch. Superb.

Can at home in Hackney - picked up from Cambridge Wines. Pours deep brown with a frothy, khaki head. Lightly sweet with sturdy, lightly ashy roast, some scorched earth, bitter dark chocolate. Light to medium bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Lightly drying finish, further ashy roast, burnt dark malts, more bitter cocoa. Solid offering here. Nice old-school stout.

Keg @ Samms Bar, Peterborough. Extremely dark with a small off-white head. Its milkiness is dominant in its taste with a few roasted malts in its nose. Smooth and crisp.
