A beautiful and easily-drinkable ale. Rich chestnut in colour, medium-bodied and well-balanced. English Lore is brewed using both traditionally floor-malted local barley and water from our farm along with a blend of classically British hops and progressive newer varieties. The resulting beer is smooth and layers hints of caramel, honey and orange marmalade with a moreish finish.
Aroma: Comforting and inviting marmalade and honey
Malts: Maris Otter, Crystal 150, Wheat, Oats
Hops: East Kent Goldings, Whitbread Golding Variety, Archer & Olicana
Flavour: Smooth, balanced with a malty caramel backbone
Appearance: Light chestnut and orange hue

On tap at Hop Stuff Taproom Ashford. Hazy amber colour thin white head. Malty aroma. Caramel malty flavour. Not much carbonation. Not much hop. Too watery. Not great.

On cask at Beerbohm, pours a clear copper with a small beige head. Aroma brings out light English hops and bready malt. Flavour is along the same lines, with soft bready malt. Not much going on here. There's a somewhat fungal character on the finish. Meh.

Cask-conditioned, on gravity, at Gloucester Beer Festival 27 April 2018. Golden, with a thin, white, head. Floral hops, some rich malts malts, jammy sweetness, citrus fruits and a slight earthiness before a dryish finish. A good beer from a new brewery.
