Deep brown but very much brown and not black. Foamy tan head. Deeply toasted malts, bright citrus, light coffee, a bit of flora, nutty. Medium bodied. Finish has citrus and roasted malts. There is a balance between the roasted notes and citrus but this skews very light overall for this style of beer. It’s a nice and easy beer.

Bottled. Black colour, mediumsized brown head. Aroma is nutty, some roasted, mild floral and fruity tones. Flavour is quite roasted and chocolaty with some mild wood, fruits and floral tones. A bit too roasted for black ipa, more actually a porter than cda/bipa in my books.

500 ml bottle purchased at the Centra in Kenmare, County Kerry, Ireland. The pour is brown black with a frothy tan 2 inch head. The aroma is pine and nut roast. The taste is pine resin right away with a hint of orange, an odd peanut flavor then the roast malt. The palate is light bodied with active carbonation and a dry soft roast and pine bitter finish.

Bottle, 5%. Fruity aroma, slightly rotten. Almost black colour, seems clear. Stable tan head. The flavour is faintly fruity, but mostly roasted. Also a little bready.
