A sweet and decadent Imperial Stout inspired by Banoffee Pie.

We mashed-in a blend of 8 different malts and added 3 different sugars (Demerara, Granulated, Maltodextrin) and after a very long shift we ended up with a thick, pitch black, luscious liquid that eventually became beer.

We then added 180Kg Banana Puree and 1Kg Ugandan Vanilla Beans and we obtained a sweet stout that is intense but not overwhelming with the bonus of being Vegan friendly (no lactose). Ripe banana dominates the aroma, taste is full of chocolatey richness coming from the specialty malts, vanilla adds pastry undertones.

Can ordered from Brew Cavern, Nottingham. Caramelised banana and vanilla aroma. Dark and glossy. Creamy beige head. The flavour is bitter and coffee led. Creamy. Vanilla. Underlying foamy banana sweets are more evident into the finish. Alcohol edge in the latter. Thick bodied. Oily. Average carbonation. Enjoyable. Although the aroma promised more.
