With the color of a pilsner and the character of an ale, our blonde is a welcome and refreshing respite. Brewed with an authentic kolsch yeast strain, a peck of fruitiness compliments the blend of noble hops. Lager-like with its delicate dryness, it really is reminiscent of ales from Köln, Germany.

Clear gold pour - just a faint bubbly lace - nose is a bit sweet/sugary, with some light fruitiness and a touch of grass and flowery hops - some creamed corn kind of notes, too, though - flavor is sweet, but much less so than the aroma suggests - fairly clean, moderately crisp - moderate hallertau fruitiness - finish has a bit of alcohol present, a light bit of huskiness - has promise, but could be a hell of a lot better.

Draught Small white head, well-carbonated deep golden beer. Malty nose, fresh, even greenmalt, active yeast. Bitterish, with some maltbase, but tastewise falling a tad flat. Carbonation lends a slight acidity to the tongue. Bit sticky feeel; gristslickness and light body. Average to decent blonde; excellent presentation, seldom seen for tasters.

12 ounce bottle from Wine Warehouse Charlottesville, VA. Pours a clear golden color with a medium-sized fizzy white head. Average head retention. Aroma of grassy hops and sweet grainy malts. The taste is toasted grain, some vanilla and honey and mild grassy hops. Medium bodied. Pretty nice kolsch.

Slightly hazy blonde coloured body with a very thin, hardly noticeable white head. Aroma of very fresh, very pale malt, a hint of citrus and a twang of coriander seed and a little sweetness. Light-bodied; Sharp metallic note at first with a large malt and citrus note with very little else, thin and one-dimensional. Aftertaste shows some more metallic notes, some hay and grass and not much else - pretty bland and simple. Overall, a light and uninteresting beer with not much flavour, but what flavour it does have is completely clean. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Oliver’s Beverage in Albany, New York on 18-November-2011 for US$3.30 sampled at home in Washington on 17-January-2012.

A yellow kolsch with a thin white head. In aroma, a grainy malt with light bilous notes. In mouth, a boring sweet grainy malt with oily mouthfeel, a bit off. Botle from IGA Potsdam, 2$.
