Bottle at home in Hackney - thanks to Emma! Pours warm brown with a frothy, beige head. Serviceable porter, if restrained, with softly roasted malts, some brown bread, background cocoa, earth. Light bodied with lively, massaging carbonation. Alright balance in the finish, nips of dry cocoa, more toasted brown bread. Fine.

Bottle from the sister-in-law. Aroma mixes coffee, berries and creosote, but not particularly string. on pouring it looks thin and cola down but once in the glass it takes on a more dark appearance. Thin creamy beige head. Light-medium bitter with asour edge Berries and liquorice. Some hints if sweetness in the finish. Light bodies. On the thin side but does have some slickness. Low key fizzy carbonation. Abrupt finish, a touch astringent. Not the worst porter I've had, not the best. It's not bland. Just underpowered, not quite a well oiled machine.

Bottle at the Catford Bridge Tavern. It pours darkest brown with a thick beige head. The aroma is milk chocolate, horlicks, maltesers, toasty malt, toasted nut and snickers. The taste is rich roasted malt, some bitterness, milk chocolate, dark fruits, plum, date, prune, salted caramel and cola with a toasty finish. Medium body and high, foamy carbonation. Decent porter.
