Say goodbye to the brown ales of old and have a taste of this futuristic take on the classic style.

The sweet UK brown ale style was previously appropriated by American home brewers and dosed with New World hops to up the juicy bitterness. We’ve taken that American Brown Ale style and pitched in an Edinburgh yeast to give a silky texture to this malty-rich, hoppy-fresh brown ale.

It’s 6% ABV, so a schooner is delicious, and pairs perfectly with chocolate orange.

Label artwork features an excerpt from Eduardo Paolozzi’s ‘Futurism at Lenabo’, 1964.

330ml bottle. Clear, dark chestnut colour with ruby glimmer and small to average, thick, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, beige head. Fruity, resinous and piney, hoppy aroma, slightly toasty, nutty malty background, hints of red berries, a touch of marmalade. Taste is dry, slightly bitter, toasty, nutty malty and slightly fruity, minimally spicy hoppy, a touch of red berries and peppermint, marmalade middle layer; toasty, nutty finish with an earthy touch of Brazil nut. Pretty good.

I like this very much. Giving a brown a bit of a zesty hoppy kick is no bad thing at all, even as somebody who liked s brown ale. Good stuff.

Tight near white creamy head stayed on a dark brown still body. Malt, citrus & roasted aroma. Medium bodied, airy over the tongue with a sharp clean back. Malt, spices, brown sugar, pith, citrus & roasted tastes with a pithy finish.

Appearance- very lively, dark brown in colour with a giant foamy beige head. Eventually it settles into 2-3 fingers. Aroma is hops, dark fruit, caramel and toasty malt, hint of blackcurrant. Taste- chocolate, caramel, biscuity malt, bitter hops, berry fruit. Bitter lengthy finish, hints of baked apple.

Keg at Overdraft, Winchester. Light malt aroma with some caramel. Dark brown. Creamy beige head. Light bitter. Initially hoppy and herby before caramel sweetness comes through. Medium bodied. Creamy. Flat carbonation. Long finish with some astringency. Enjoyable stuff.

On tap at Hop Stuff Tap room Ashford. Dark dark brown colour lasting tan head. American brown ale aroma. I mean I do like this style. Like dark brown malt with a slap of lime up the bracket. Really hoppy on aroma and finish. Pretty good and right up my alley.
