An American Oud Bruin, open-fermented and barrel-aged in fresh pinot noir barrels, then finished in brandy barrels and naturally carbonated with wildflower honey.
EL CUATRO is made of barley and caramel malts co-mingling with lactobacillus and brettanomyces. After brewing and conditioning, the beer is transferred into brandy & whiskey barrels to age for over a year during an extended Brettanomyces Lambicus fermentation. Prior to bottling, the beer is blended with a small portion of year-old SAHALIE. The only hops added to this beer arrive from the aged SAHALIE. The brandy barrels and wild yeast fermentation give EL CUATRO a plum & cherry fruitiness balanced by the slight toast of the malt body.

This is very heavy, earthy. All brandy barrel at first, plum and dark atone fruit a bit as it warms slightly. Maybe a bit of spice at the end

Sample at Urban Artifact during The Extinction Event: Natural Wine & Spontaneous Beer Fest on 09/28/2019. Slightly hazy bronze color with a medium off-white head that dissipates steadily to an outer ring. Short strings of lace. Aroma of oak, yeast, fruit and malt. Medium to full body with flavors of vinous oak, mildly funky yeast, brandy and malt. The finish is oaky and a little boozy with a brandy and yeast aftertaste. Good beer all around.
