Draught at CBC, Fall 2014.
Pale, white-golden body shows plentiful, sparkling carbonation and a small, wispy white head. Medium to medium-high clarity.
Nectarines, honeydew, and light apples lead off the aroma, signifying the fruitiness of both the pumpkin and malt sugars. Spices are low in the nose, with a delightfully rich maltiness giving off tons of honey-like character. Citrus on the end balances nicely with more caramelized sugar character and soft herbs and various yeast phenolics.
Surprisingly well-malted, with a soft, wheat-like texture and tight carbonation lending a good deal of drinkability. Phenols and melon-like flavors combine to help keep things dry, while honey and very light caramel stem from the malts. Very easy drinking and interesting to see what the pumpkins add to a Belgian beer. Nice restraint on the spice, as expected.
