Dark, cola-to-ebony body shows good clarity and auburn tints. Tan head atop shows moderate retention.
Straightforward roasted barley adds typical coffee and chocolate notes while lightly tannic grains add a bit of "sourness" to the nose. Not getting much relief from the base malt; no real caramel to speak of.
Dry, very much so, like their pale ale and just quite undermalted, unfortunately. Watery, weak texture with vegetal notes from the hops and light baker’s chocolate and coffee from the dark malt. Sourish on the finish.
