Bottle # 597/660. A near deep brown color. Aroma of red wine, oak, sugar. Red wine has a huge influence with the Scotch ale underneath. A little bit of smoke mixed with red grapes. Nice contrast against bourbon or whiskey barrels that are a lot more common.

500mL bottled 1/7/22, #597/600, drunk 7/30/22. Dark copper/dark amber. Clear. Larger, dark beige head but it still fades rapidly to a ring. Chalky red wine, light oak and plentiful fruity acidity. Yeah, that's another killer nose from these guys. Touch of syrupy date and plum behind it with just a small amount of caramel and molasses. Wow! Wine explodes with rich caramel, black pepper, strong red fruit and just tender, juicy grape notes with great attenuation, light mineral, chalk and delicious red berry. The balance is stellar, there's no booze or preponderance of barrel. Tastefully, tastefully done, pushing the barrel, but still showing restraint.

Bottle (1/7/22) pour. It's a hazy, dark cola with nice sparkle, ring of beige head and no lacing. Aroma is strong caramel with lighter red wine and oak. Taste is balanced strong caramel and red wine. Mouthfeel is light-to-medium bodied with smooth, frothy texture, soft carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, appreciate the novelty of the red wine barrel so there's that. Good balance and strength though not complex.
1/7/22 597/660 aroma is toffee, red wine barrel. Taste is delicious, smooth, balanced, abv is hidden. This is a nice sipper and lends to the scotch ale well.
