clear mahogany colour, medium sized creamy beige-ish head; aroma of rye bready, dried sour cherry, prune, some roasted sunflower seeds and minimal chocolate notes; taste has the same notes as can be felt in the aroma with more intensive (dark) chocolate (or rather chocolate mousse) and some spicy alcohol; good one

On tap at The Scrapyard, pours a clear dark reddish brown with a medium beige head. Aroma brings out lots of earthy rye, toasted nuts, and crusty bready malt. Flavour is dry, with lots of crusty rye bread, spicy earthy rye, and toasted nuts. Crusty, dry and pleasantly bitter. Fairly thin-bodied. Good stuff.

Dark brown with thin head. Aroma and flavour have caramel, nutty malts and brown bread. Slight metallic off note. Rounded treacle bitterness in the finish balances it well.

(Draught at Walhalla Brewery & Taproom, Amsterdam, 29 Feb 2020) Dark brown colour with hints of ruby. Creamy beige head. Malty, roasted nose with chocolate, roasted malt, dark bread and prunes. Malty taste with notes of coffee, chocolate, dark rye bread and a mild spicy bitterness in the finish. Almost full body, with a certain sweetness. Really tasty and well balanced doppelbock. Very nice.
