On tap at The Scrapyard, pours a clear dark reddish brown with a medium beige head. Aroma brings out lots of earthy rye, toasted nuts, and crusty bready malt. Flavour is dry, with lots of crusty rye bread, spicy earthy rye, and toasted nuts. Crusty, dry and pleasantly bitter. Fairly thin-bodied. Good stuff.

Dark brown with thin head. Aroma and flavour have caramel, nutty malts and brown bread. Slight metallic off note. Rounded treacle bitterness in the finish balances it well.

The barrel aging on this is spot on. Gives it a very nice vanilla-like boozy character that is restrained but forward. Very clear and very clean beer. Walhalla Amsterdam

(Draught at Walhalla Brewery & Taproom, Amsterdam, 29 Feb 2020) Dark brown colour with hints of ruby. Creamy beige head. Malty, roasted nose with chocolate, roasted malt, dark bread and prunes. Malty taste with notes of coffee, chocolate, dark rye bread and a mild spicy bitterness in the finish. Almost full body, with a certain sweetness. Really tasty and well balanced doppelbock. Very nice.

Pours hazy brown/dark amber with a quickly thinning, frothy, tan head. Aroma of plum, raisin, dried banana, apple peel, brown bread, tea leaves. Taste is medium malty sweet, plum & raisin on a bready, almost toasty & nutty base, abruptly going over to a rather strong herbal bitterness with subtle spices underneath. Dryish, herbal hoppy finish, a tad caramelly, bready, with dried fruit & a hint of liqueur. Medium body, oily texture, fizzy carbonation. I actually longed for more sweetness here but it has a distinct character.
