330ml bottle @ Chez Sophie, Shrewsbury. Pours a hazed deep amber, frothy off-white head. Aroma is coffee, light caramel hints. Taste is smooth on the palate with well integrated vanilla with the coffee. Don’t generally go for coffee in beer, much less in a pale ale but the vanilla is a great addition with a nice sweet touch. Surprisingly tasty.

Bottle. Archer Road Beer Stop, Sheffield. Amber, with a soft haze. Thin, lasting, off white head. Earthy, unwashed coffee bean. Vanilla. Some spicy biscuit. Taste has some sweetness before turning earthy bitter. Thin body. Foamy mouthfeel. Watery finish. Coffee in pale beers seems to thin all flavour and palate, for me.

1/3 pint at Brewdog Dundee pours a hazy dark orange with some cloudy, white head. Nose is interesting, coffee beans, a touch of black pepper, some vegetal jalapeno notes, some chestnut honey. Flavor follows a bit, some green bell pepper, some pink peppercorn, honey, a little caramel, blonde roast coffee. Finishes a touch sticky, but mostly dry. Interesting.

Bottle. Hazy amber body with a thin off-white head. Steady carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of coffee, vanilla and melon rind. Flavour of smooth coffee, wood and orange pith. Thin to medium body with smooth texture. Soft fizz. The first sip was very interesting - I wasn’t sure about the inclusion of coffee in a Pale Ale - but it grew on me more and more.

Bottle thanks to the brewer. Appearance - golden amber with a thin head. Nose - coffee and vanilla. Wasn’t expecting that - should’ve read the deScription. Honeycomb and caramel. Dark chocolate. Taste - Crunchie Bar generally. Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a sticky but balanced finish. Overall - solid. But not a pale ale as described.
