Bottle purchased from The Black Sheep. Inky black pour, very thin brown head that dissipates quickly. Boozy caramel, dark fruit, dark chocolate, smells like Christmas cake and coffee. Taste is typical barrel aged Imp stout, booziness is kept in control though. Long complex finish.

Bottle split at Chris & Ruth's pre GBBF Shin Dig, cheers for all the shares, 05/08/17. Black with a decent tan cap. Nose is bitter roast, chocolate, oak, spice, toffee, dark fruit esters. Taste comprises dark fruits, chocolate, vanilla, spice, toffee, fruit cake, raisins. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close splashed with mellow barrel strains and a light boost. Decent enough impy but probably wants drinking soonest with no more ageing.

Bottle at C&R Pre-GBBF Tasting 2017. It pours jet black with a small tan head. The aroma is rich roasted malt, heavy sweet, sticky, chocolate, dried fruits, rocky road, toasted marshmallow, coffee and wood. The taste is slick, rich roasted malt, charred wood, rocky road, cake, tar, ash, leather, salted liquorice, cocoa, dirt and warming alcohol. Full body and fine carbonation. There is a distant burnt note which detracts from it a bit, but it is rather decent overall.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Max’s place. Thanks Tom L. Black with a tan head. Aroma of chocolate, whiskey, wood, vanilla, some roast, soy sauce, a bit of dark fruits, a bit of licorice, a light smoky note, kinda boozy. Great sweet flavor with chocolate, a light salty note - soy sauce, whiskey, vanilla, sourish note, a bit of dark fruits, and a light boozy note. Full-bodied, rounded. Really good.
