Wow, this is an old can I found on a shelf tucked away; dint know was there. Nevertheless, decent caramel hop nose. Sticky malt hop flavor with a boat load of bitter to stand up to the sticky malt. Thick fluffy head slowly settles. Bitter finish, but nice. Well done, guys, well done.

Tallboy can courtesy of TheHOFF43. Clear golden with a six finger tan head. Good retention. Aroma of piney, resin, citrus hops. The taste is piney, tropical, melon hops, pale malt. Medium bodied, decent balance.

Filtered orange-copper body. I think they have really lost sight of what made the Unchained beers solid. Foamy steady white head. OK, not bad, but drinks a little heavy and thick for a 2015 IIPA. Almost a munich malt balance, touches of wood, caramel, pine. There is some nice citrus zest, but the massive malts steal the show. Kind of soapy finish. Not really a style I want to see Summit even attempt. I hope they leave the 16oz cans behind, as that doesn’t fit the style at all either.

16 oz can, still fresh. Amber color. Lacing head that lasted a long time. Pine and fresh grass aroma. Flavor has sweet malt, dry, bitter hops, some citrus. Well balanced, with enough bitter flavor to stand up to the malt. Hop resin aftertaste.

Pours a clear, dark copper-gold, with smallish head. Aroma includes some floral and citrus notes. Flavor is quite bitter, with citrus and tropical fruits battling with strong, piney, hop bite. Bitter finish. This is a good first try at a DIPA by Summit, but they’re going to want to keep working on this, try to balance it out a bit more.

Sample from the tap at Winterfest 2015. Pours a clear golden orange with a white head that dissipates slowly to the edges and laces slightly. Aroma has ltos of pine hops with some onion in there, a bit of grass and a sweet grain backbone. Flavor has lots of grass and pine with some onion toward the finish and sweet grain underlying.
