Rich and complex with plenty of body, this classic stout is packed full of flavour, with hints of chocolate and coffee. The hops bring a touch of bitterness while the oats used give this stout a silky smooth finish.

Eher trockener, stark malziger Beginn. Zunehmend Kaffee, trockene Bitterkeit, äußerst geringe Süße, mittellanger Abgang. Süffig, schnell vergessen. 11/8/10/8/7/8

Clear 500ml bottle from a local Morrison's, drank at home on 15th July 2025. Almost black in colour, neat tanned crown that hung around for a while. Malty with a chocolate front, some slightly bitter coffee grains towards the finish. It would have been a lot better had they not watered it down to 4.2% ABV!

Bottle from Morrisons Supermarket in the coastal resort of Cromer. Enjoyed in the countryside just outside the town. Very dark red with a small head. It's a fair addition to this family of ales, and is stated enough in its light roasted notes, allowing some sweetness through. Perhaps its easy drinking nature is its best feature.

Creamy tan head stayed on a a near black coloured body.
Malt & English hop aroma.
Medium bodied, creamy with a clean back.
Malt, liquorice, toffee & fruity berry tastes with a tangy finish.
Looks like a Stout, tastes like an ESB but refreshing & decent to drink.

Bottle at the olds. Pours dark brown with a thin beige head. Aromas of light chocolate and coffee. Taste is more of the same. Decent body for the strength.

After a long day of transporting children and two trips to the dump to get rid of mattresses, I needed a beer. A really good pour with lots going on in the glass. Rich malts and body for what is a low abv. Pretty good.

Bottle from Sainsbury's and drunk at home. Dark brown colour. Lasting tan head. Coffee and chocolate aroma. More coffee than chocolate. A little thin but fine. It's ok. Some dark malts. Some dark fruit.

500ml bottle from Asda, Chelmsley Wood. Pours dark brown/near black with beige to tanned head. Aroma of roasted and sweet malt, brown bread, bird seed. Taste of roasted malt, dark chocolate, light coffee and hint of liquorice, touch of cola. Nice smoothness to this for the strength. Good. Wychwood have brought out a new Hobgoblin stout also but its not as good as this. Greene King wins the imaginary battle.
