On tap at the Beer Baron. It pours a mostly clear reddish brown with a small khaki head. The aroma is strong with caramel and toast. Maybe a hint of raisins, but really caramel heavy. The flavor is the same with strong bitterness that doesn’t really work with the rest of the beer. The body is reasonably dry despite the strong toasted and caramel malt. Good carbonation. Overall it’s enjoyable, but the bitterness is distracting.

Tap at Capitol Beer. Pours dark brown with a transient slight head. Aroma suggests bourbon and prunes. Med body. Flavor is musty sweet bourbon with some smoke and prune/plum or some sort of darkish fruit. Bourbon is dominant in the finish. Heat is well hidden, and the vanilla level is nicely subdued. The flavors are not excessively strong, which makes this a nice beer.
