(Draft at In De Wildeman, Amsterdam, 20 Feb 2025) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted, smoky nose with chocolate, coffee and peat smoke. Malty, roasted taste with notes of dark chocolate, coffee, black rye bread, peat smoke, liquorice and a balanced roasty bitterness in the finish. A mild pepper touch coming through. Full body, with a certain sweetness. Rich and tasty. Very nice.

Can shared at tasting. Opaque black color, average sized beige head. Aroma and flavor are malts, roasty a bit, very smoky, peated whiskey, band-aid, bitter. Ugh, not so good, not my style for sure.

Pours a black body with a dense brown head. Aroma's: big smoke, smoked malts, sweetish, roasty. Retronasal it's sweetish, smoke, roast, bitterish. Flavour is moderate bitter and light sweet. Medium bodied. Smoky & above moderate bitter finish. I only read afterwards that this contains (smoked) apples & cayenne, but I never noticed it. Great smoked beer though.

0.33 l can from 'Mr. Hop', canned in November 2024. Black with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, light brown head. Sweetish-malty, gently roasty, fairly smoky aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, licorice, ash and smoked ham. Fairly sweet, malty, very roasty, fairly smoky, minimally fruity taste of dark chocolate, licorice, ash, hard roasted coffee, some smoked ham and hints of dark fruits, followed by a long, fairly roasty-bitter, ashy finish. Medium to full body, smooth and slightly creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Intense and saturating beer, quite demanding, really good but not for the faint-hearted.

Can from Drankenhandel Leiden. Big rauch with roasted malt, chocolate and coffee. Notes of ash and peat, body could be more full. Hint of smoked pepper. Smokey ashy finish, good rauch, deserves more body.

Can at home picked up in Amsterdam, 10th January 25. Pours black. Aroma is peat, smoke and meaty. Taste is heavy, smokey, roasted malts, I didn’t catch the apple or cayenne, but a nice Impy
