A fall inspired version of Bam Bière - a richer, fuller recipe to start and of course we added a lot of chestnuts to the mash as well! Rich auburn, gently tart, notes of earthy chestnuts, flavors of cashew, taro, traces of autumn smoke and a slightly orange juiciness in the finish.
One day Bam, being the little gentlemen that he is, decided to become a farmer. He planted a veritable sea of chestnut trees, sat back and enjoyed the gentle whisper of the wind through their leafy green canopies. Every fall he enlists a lively horde of hard working squirrels to help him harvest the nuts for later roasting on an open fire. Then he sits back again and enjoys life. And his Michigan grown chestnut beer.
Cheers & Mahalo plenty!

14 oz draft at Jolly Pumpkin Pizzeria and Brewery in Detroit, Michigan. The pour is a hazed golden with a frothy white head. The aroma is nut, traditional Jolly Pumpkin yeast of tart, funk Brett. The taste is a nice blend of the base funk saison and the nut character carrying the finish. The palate is medium bodied with soft natural carbonation and the funk Brett softly tart finish. Fun beer.

Bodney Towers Bottleshare. Thanks to Leighton. Very hazy gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is smooth and semi dry, reasonable carbonation. Very tangy lemon and orange. Light malts underneath. Dry floral bitterness and some bitter nuts. Light dry finish. A bit edgy for me.

Bottle thanks to my Mom! Pours a clear gold with a white some visible head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has a decent amount of chestnut with light grains, oak and a bit of light tart fruit underlying. Flavor has a good amount of chestnut and oak with light grains and growing light tart fruits.

Bottle shared in Hackney - picked up at Kris Wines. Pours unclear gold with a creamy, white head. The nose has some pale grains, tangy tangerine, a little sweat, funk, pale wood. Light sweet flavour with some nice funky dryness, old wood, lemon, peach. Medium bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Lightly drying in the finish, with nips of melon, grass, hay, lemon, more musty funk. Great stuff.

Bottle at home, 04/09/17. Hazed orange, floaties evident, moderate off white head that soon dissipates. Not a looker ! Nose is barnyard, orange peel, white peppery spice, damp straw, faint yeasty strokes. Taste comprises bitter citric peel, tangy orange, hay bale, light wooded notes, faint spice. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Nice earthy saison .... delivers a good depth of flavour for the ABV.
