Cask at Fuggles. Beautiful in the glass with good lacing. A really rich flavour with lots of rich malt, chocolate and a real length. This is very good.

Can. Buxton online. Different artwork and now 4.5%. Mostly clear deep chestnut brown. Thin lasting lacing soppy beige foam. Looks well. Big dried vine fruit. Soft roast malt. Bit of an ashy charr. Whiff of baking chocolate. Taste is fairly sweet and fruity with a decent amount of charred vinous bitterness. Super smooth. Fine carbonation. Vinous fruity semi sweet towards the finish with charred bitterness to end. Lovely gear.

Cask at Ebenezers, Crewe. Pours a fairly dark reddish-brown with a small cream head. Malts to the fore in the aroma, alongside traces of ash and toffee. Malts in the mouth as well, plus treacle, chocolate and hints of spice. At the start it is fairly sweet but slightly watery. Later on some tanginess comes through, leading to a slightly dry finish. Quite nice but a little bland.

Can from Great Grog. Dark brown body with a beige head that gradually fades. Steady carbonation. Patchy lacing. Aroma of dark chocolate and brambles. Flavour follows the aroma - dark chocolate and dark berries. Thin to medium body with a slick texture. Soft fizz. Good flavour for the ABV. I’d love to see more dark milds.
