Heavy malt-bomb of an IPA, sweet and thick and full of classic Cascade pine. Starts with a major dose of caramel malt laced with butter, then grows a toffee undertone while a pine-needle bitterness perks up. Stays sweet, overly so, which doesn’t mesh well with the Northwest spiciness of the Cascades, creating a cloying back end offset by the slightest hint of orange. Finishes dry, but not enough to counter the sugary soul of the brew. Nose follows the taste, malt-forward backed by modest pine. Texture’s viscous but bearable. Still not a good beer, though.

Pour is a hazy amber with a large white head. Aroma is a decent pine and caramel malt combo. Flavor is pretty much the same. Lots of pine and floral hops with a stiff but not sweet malty backbone. Looking at how this beer poured I thought this would be a super malt bomb but this was a pleasant surprise with plenty of piney west coast hops. One of the better Sam Adams beers I’ve had in a while.

This beer is a clear copper color with a medium thin white head that recedes steadily to an outer ring. Stringy lacing. Aroma of citrus, piney hops and malt. Medium body with flavors of piney hops, citrus and caramel malt. The finish is mildly bitter with a citrusy hop aftertaste. Decent overall.

At a tasting, thanks, small stable stiff creamy head, light hazy and quite deep orange color, fruity malty aroma, strong and a bit rough piney hint bitterness, some fruit and malt in back. A bit old But still drinkable.

Can sample at a tasting at troubles’s place. Thanks rayaron. Hazy deep golden with a beige head. Aroma of stale citric hops. Flavor has sweetish malt, a bit of caramel, and bitterish stale citric hops. Medium-bodied. Not fresh enough.

Part of their Pack of Rebels 12-pack of cans in Vermont. Pours a clear amber colour with a big frothy off-white head, very long lasting with creamy-dirty lacing. Cascade hop nose with the grassiness over light caramel malts. The mix of Cascade and caramel malts is the same in the taste. Sharp bitterness in the finish. Lots of grass lingering. A very well-balanced hoppy IPA with grapefruit, pine and a typical hopbomb.

Pours deep gold into a shaker. Off-white head with medium retention recedes leaving spot lacing. Sour butterscotch, bubblegum and caramel aromas. Banana and bubblegum upfront turning to resin in the lasting finish.

12 ounce can, 2/28/16. Clear copper, large foamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of herbal, piney, citrus hops and caramel malt. The taste is caramel malt, leafy, herbal hops, grapefruit. Medium bodied, lingering bitterness. Solid.

12oz can I was looking forward to enjoying today. Thin offwhite/lt tan-amber. A-soft citrus-orange/some pine. T-harsh hop bite, some lt/med malt. Not balanced, too much no character bittering. After 4 oz the harshness backs off a bit but still no/not much character after the nose and slight caramel as it warms.

Sampled from a 12 oz can this beer poured a dark bronze color with a huge creamy orange-tan head that lingered and left decent lacing. The aroma was sweetish and spicy with herbal hops and caramel. The flavor was bitter with caramel and leafy floral, herbal and citric hops. Long finish. Medium body. Ok.
