12 ounce bottle from Trader Joe’s Brookfield, WI, 9/4/16. Hazy amber, large foamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of pine, candied lemon, caramel malt. The taste is pine, lemon, grapefruit, mild caramel malt. Medium bodied, decent balance, moderate lingering bitterness.

Draft. From notes. Grass and grains, slightly earthy hops. Slightly bitter taste. Meh, it’s ok.

Pours a copper-gold with massive head (almost too much so). Aroma is of grass, grain, malt--where are the hops? Flavor is very grassy, with malt and very little in the way of hops--none of the characteristic citrus or piney bitterness. A disappointment.

16oz can-rich tan-dk amber. A-resin, doughy-med malt. T-follows. Carbonation is a bit soft, still a nice drinking beer.

Slightly hazy amber coloured body with a copper glow and a super thick, seven centimetre tall tan head that stays very soapy. Aroma of hop pellets with some caramel, malt, light citrus and some herbal hops. Medium-bodied; Assertive grassy and herbal hop flavours, coming from pellets, with a slightly malt kick and a bit of earthiness on the tail end. Aftertaste is relatively mild with some malt, a bit of caramel and a glow of the hops noticeable. Overall, a pretty sub-par beer with some light hop notes and more malt and cardboardie flavours with no complexity and the hops coming from pellets instead of whole flowers. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Three Cellars in Franklin, Wisconsin on 05-September-2012 for US$1.99 sampled at home in Washington on 12-October-2012.

Single bottle from Binny’s Build-a-Six rack. Nice copper IPA color with a thick, slightly orange-ish head. Slightly citrus and pine hop smell. Taste is up front with hop bitterness. After a thousand IPAs, it gets hard to say what makes one different from the other, but this does have a slightly larger malt backing, even if it does support a pretty standard hop balance. But as a year-round beer, you can’t expect too many non-repeatable variations.

12 oz. Bottle - Pours a light amber color. Nice hop flavor and the bitterness is well balanced. Caramel malt & citrus are here which work well in this IPA. Not too overpowering @ 7.5%. Very nice overall.

An orange amber IPA with a thin off white head. In aroma, classic pinhey hops, citrus pulp, caramel malt. In mouth, a smooth biscuit with piney hops, citrus, candy sugar, very nice. Bottle at Istmus Beer and Cheese Fest, Jan 21 2012.

12oz bottle. Hazy, thick, in no way filtered amber-orange color. Rather straightforward as far as US IPAs go, with a nice depth of malt and hop balance. A sweet, sandy caramel malt upfront tone is washed away in a sea of smooth, earthy, green hops. Somewhat clean in it’s lack of alcohol taste, sticky and sweet malt and hop residue. This IPA nails it, classic new school taste.
