Originally brewed as a mild with less hops than our other beers: we dropped the word Mild from its name almost immediately. A truly stunning beer that is often overlooked amongst our range.

A hoppy russet, bittersweet fruity beer with malty notes on the nose, accompanied by a biscuit and caramel finish on the palate.

From cask at Albert Tavern, Freuchie, Scotland. Dark amber brown colour, creamy off white head. Aroma of some hops, coffee, light fruity, bit of chocolate. Flavour is mild coffee, watery, hoppy, light moccha, light fruity, bitter finish. Light bodied.

Cask (@Three Legged Mare, York): Amber coloured, quite stable creamy off-white head; distinctive toasty and dry fruity nose; moderate to solid dry bitter flavour, quite light bodied, but not watery; lingering malty and dry bitter finish. Pleasant and tasty.....

Cask, The Lion , Liverpool. Dark reddy tinged brown with a creamy medium off white head. Gentle aroma with some fruit present. Caramel malt base to the flavour which was smooth, quite sweet and had some balanced hop in there too. Bitter finish. Reasonable but nowt special.

(Cask at Knott, Mancester, 27 July) Colour is dark amber with a firm off-white head. Nose is malty, nutty and a bit citrussy (or maybe acidic?). Taste is malty and nutty with dried fruit and dusty hops in the finish. Buttery acidic notes indicating not the best of forms. Iโ€™ll give it another try sometime.

Cask Handpump at โ€™The Harpโ€™ Covent Garden, London 16-03-06. I thought the Harveys Sussex was unbeatable today until I tried this. A wonderful dark red beer with little head to speak of. The sweetness and bitterness are very good kept getting a pleasant vanilla taste with each slurp โ€™its difficult too sipโ€™. Extremely good beer. Cask at the Nut Tree, Murcott, Oxon, 15-06-08 in the company of Loz, Casey and Traci Dark brown light mahogany colour with a slight off white creamy head. Taste is fresh, even a little earthy, bit citrussy some pithiness comes through, hoppy on the end, tangy, marvellous.

[Cask at Charlies Bar, Copenhagen] A hazy deep red beer with a small beige head. The nose is light, but sweet with notes of berries especially lingonberries. The flavor is sweet and very bitter with notes of bisquites besides some floral notes.
