Cask at The Craven Arms, Birmingham. Near black with beige head. This turned out to be a tasty porter with chocolate, toffee, hint of liquorice. Medium body.

Handpull cask from the Salmon, Leicester. Slightly reddish brown translucency with a small layer of beige/khaki head. Gentle aroma with some forest fruits and a little bit of liquorice. Sweetness to the fore, some blackberry in the taste, followed by bitterness and a short-ish finish. Nice once you get used to it.

50cl Fles van Dunster Deli. Ze noemen het zelf een dark ale, ik moet ook eerlijk zeggen dat ik het niet op een Porter vind lijken, meer een Old Ale. Donker kastanjebruine kleur, vuilwitte kraag. Chocolade, pralines, noten, caramel, hint van gebrande mout, cacao, bittere finish. Lichte body. Prima.

Large foamy tan head on a near black body. Chocolate, malt & bitter aroma. Medium bodied, foamy dry & sticky on the back. Chocolate, malt & toffee tastes with a bitter piney finish. Good one.

Cask at Bird in Hand, Stafford. Pours a murky dark brown with a small cream head. The aroma has malts and milk chocolate. In the mouth it is smooth and sweet with flavours of honey, biscuits and malts. A little bitterness comes in later along with hints of liquorice. Bitterness increases in the finish, but still not overwhelming. This is a decent porter.
