2017 750mL bottle pours with a deep dark black body that supports a brown head of foam. The aroma offers straight up chocolate milk and dark chocolate goodness. Wow! In the background are thin layers of dark roasted malts. The taste delivers smooth decadent chocolate yum running from front to back. Wow. There's just faint murmurs of dark roasted malts in the background. Solid rich sipper. Let us pray.

Dark brown. Thin head. This has a rocky road ice cream nose, so they nailed that, with vanilla, nuts, caramel, what…marshmallow…sweet and toasted marshmallow on the palate, So much dessert on this one. The lactose comes through a lot, nice chocolate, caramel. Well, I like it.

Sergey's hunt at Oakes Manor; vintage 2017
Black colour. Aroma of chocolate and vanilla. Full bodied, extremely sweet, some chocolate, roasted nuts, vanilla, mild astringency in the final that may come from the walnuts. The sweetness hides the alcohol.
Very good drink, but it seems that most of the flavour comes from the adjuncts rather than true complexity from the beer.

Bottle - Sweet Chocolate and marshmallow. Jet black with a decent brown head. Sweet, candied nuts, marshmellow and a odd bitterness. Sweet and a bit messy for me.

Bottle drunk 12/1/17.
Dark ebony, undetermined clarity, with a rapidly-vanishing, tan head.
Light acidity in the nose is noted and appreciated, with a rather raisin-vinous character. Then the sugars hit and hit pretty hard, with lots of fudge, milk chocolate and a slight lactic character in the background. Pretty rich and intense for only 11%. That's pretty light for one of these pastry stouts, these days. Alcohol is light and in the background, certainly present.
In the mouth it's very strong on the...marshmallow. It's a sugary-creamy, well, marshmallowy character with lots of cherry-vanilla-raisin acidity to gently balance (it's not balanced) the massive assault of cake and fudge-like sugars. Some dry nut character is kind of a sad joke at a balancing attempt, as well. Warm alcohol on the finish, with a lot more vanilla and light glue. Soft, syrupy, sugary texture with low carbonation.

(On tap @ Omnipollos Hatt, Feb 24/18/MBCC 2017 Green Session) Pours black with a dark tan head. Aroma of rich dark malts, moderate roast, dark chocolate, lost of mixed toasted nuts, vanilla, touches of coffee, caramel overtones. Flavour is rich, sweet, lots of dark chocolate and roasted nuts, more marshmallow/rocky road vibes here, vanilla, some coffee, roast grain blends with the nuts and compensates for the sweetness with prominent bitterness. Light alcohol heat. Long nutty, chocolate aftertaste. Medium full body, slick, soft carbonation. Really nice, glad to sample this outside of a festival because it shone even more. Angry Chair is super at this sort of beer.
