Rich Oatmeal stout, dark and deep. A complex beer with a subtle smokey aftertaste from the beech-smoked malt.

440ml can, 4.5% version. Pours a very dark brown with a beige head. Aroma of woody smoke, roast malts, chocolate. Taste of dark malts, roast, chocolate, molasses, mild woody smoke - much less than the aroma promised, bittersweet with a drying finish. Medium bodied, smooth.
To be fair, the can does actually say that it has just a "hint of smoke" so I won't knock it for that as it's clearly intentional, I do think this would be better if it were more prominent though.

Can from the brewery online shop. Appearance - black and opaque with a tan head. Nose - woodsmoke, dark chocolate and an edge of coffee. Taste - dark chocolate again, a hint of molasses, then coffee and roastiness again. Backdrop of woodsmoke again. Palate - medium bodied, roasty middle and the finish is balanced with the smokiness. Overall - lovely beer.

440ml can. Black with small tan head, no retention. Aroma of smokiness, chocolate, roasted malts. Taste is smoke, roasted malts, a sweetness to balance, some coffee, not getting the chocolate in the taste unlike aroma. Moderate body and a short sharp carbonation to liven things. One of very few smoked beers I have tried but I quite like this one.
